The Heart of The Kimberley
The East-Kimberley region boasts one of Australia’s most fertile agricultural areas.
The success of the region dates back to the 1950’s when the State Government realised the areas potential and submitted a proposal to the Commonwealth Government for financial assistance to develop a dam on the Ord River.
The grant was approved, and work started on the massive Ord River Irrigation Scheme.
The region was transformed from semi-desert cattle country to a prosperous, year-round agricultural area that would and continues to bring great economic and agricultural opportunities to Western Australia.
Kununurra has continuous access to quality flood irrigation water, is a warmer climate which is particularly suited to the types of produce we grow at Bothkamp, and the rich fertile soils means that premium fruit, vegetables and specialty crops are harvested all year round.
